The continuously emerging digital media tools are leading the trend. It has become normal to watch TV on-demand at any time on a classic TV-set, a cell phone, tablet or laptop, sometimes voice or gesture controlled. Add to this cross-media products that combine classic information and entertainment: Texts, pictures and film clips are merged to produce a statement. Following the slogan “Broadcast yourself” provider and user have become increasingly interconnected. Today free of charge broadcasting stations provide on average six hours science and educational programs daily in Austria alone. In addition, other diverse formats are delivered on digital platforms. This lecture will look at specific design and communication measures within the various distribution media.
