Wolfgang Aigner ist Experte für Informationsvisualisierung (InfoVis) und Visual Analytics (VA) mit einem Fokus auf zeitorientierte Daten. In seiner Forschung und Lehre beschäftigt er sich mit Computerwerkzeugen, Methoden und Konzepten, die Menschen im Umgang mit großen und komplexen Informationsstrukturen unterstützen um komplexe Sachverhalte verständlich zu machen, die Gewinnung neuer Erkenntnisse zu erleichtern und die Generierung neuen Wissens zu ermöglichen. Wolfgang Aigner hat an mehr als 125 Publikationen mitgewirkt und ist ein Autor des Buchs “Visualization of Time-Oriented Data” (Springer, 2011).

Zum bereits achten Mal trafen sich Filmschaffende, Medienfachleute, Studierende und Branchenexperten Anfang Mai zur c-tv Konferenz an der FH St. Pölten. Die zweisprachige (Deutsch/Englisch) angelegte Fernsehtagung mit internationalem Publikum bot den rund 200 Gästen einen Tag lang die Möglichkeit, sich über Themen und Trends rund um neue Bewegtbildformate und technologische Neuerungen in Film und Fernsehen zu informieren und mit anderen Fachleuten auszutauschen. Unter dem Titel „Head of Content: Immersive, branded, high graded“ diskutierten internationale Experten Fragen zu aktuellen Entwicklungen und gaben Einblicke in Wissenschaft und Praxis.

Big Data & Co: Wie filtert man Informationen und Zusammenhänge aus einem Berg an Daten? Das mehrere Hochschulen übergreifende Forschungsprojekt "VALID - Visual Analytics in Data-Driven Journalism" beschäftigt sich mit komplexen und heterogenen Daten und ihre mögliche Implementierung in journalistische Arbeitsprozesse. (FH) Julian Ausserhofer (FH JOANNEUM) sprechen dazu u. a. über die Entwicklung von Visual Analytics Technologien und den historischen Begriff des Datenjournalismus.
